And then there were two.
South Carolina and Kentucky are the two finalists for 3-star defensive tackle Kobe Smith, according to The State’s Phil Kornblut.
The Archer High School (Lawrenceville, Ga.) product is expected to make his decision in the next week, in order to enroll at either South Carolina or Kentucky next Sunday.
“It just depends on where I feel right and where I can make a great impact,” Smith told Kornblut.
In an interesting twist, Smith will not make an announcement. Instead, he plans on just showing up at the university he chooses next Sunday.
Smith was previously committed to both Kentucky and North Carolina State. He de-committed from Kentucky on Dec. 27.
First-year Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp and first-year Gamecocks defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson recruited Smith when they were at Auburn this past season.
Smith is the rated as the nation’s No. 45 defensive tackle and the No. 53 prospect in Georgia.
