Sports Illustrated staff members have weighed in on all the bowl action to come.
On Wednesday, the outlet published a lengthy post detailing picks for all 40 bowls and the national championship game. A panel of seven writers and editors — Andy Staples, Bruce Feldman, Joan Niesen, Chris Johnson, Eric Single, Molly Geary and Scooby Axson — took part and ranked their selections by confidence points.
You can check out the entire post here to see the selections for each bowl involving SEC teams. But in the Rose Bowl, three of the staff members chose Georgia to beat Oklahoma. Then two picked Alabama to beat Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. Both those national semifinal games kick off on Jan. 1.
Only one staff member (Johnson) picked an SEC team to win the national championship, and that choice is Alabama. Four chose Clemson to win it all, and two picked Oklahoma to hoist the trophy at the end. (No love for Georgia?)
Soon, the time for predictions will be over. It will be fun to see if either Georgia or Alabama can rise and claim a national title in the coming weeks.
