The SEC announced Thursday that former Florida head coach Steve Spurrier and former Alabama head coach Gene Stallings will conduct the coin toss at the SEC Championship in Atlanta.
Spurrier and Stallings coached against each other in the first SEC title game in 1992 in Birmingham. Stallings and Alabama won that game 28-21. Former SEC commissioner Roy Kramer, who instituted the championship game, will also be at midfield for the coin flip.
It’s possible that both coaches’ former teams could be present in Atlanta as well. Both Alabama and Florida are in first place in their respective divisions.
The SEC Championship, now in its 25th year, will be Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. ET on CBS.
