The 2018 Sugar Bowl will be played on Jan. 1, 2018 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. Clemson and Alabama will play in a College Football semifinal game this year.
This game is tied to Big 12 and SEC conferences and has been played in its current form for the last two years. But in 2018, it’s the Sugar Bowl’s turn to host the playoff. Find the date, time and location below.

The Sugar Bowl will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. The 2018 game will be the 43rd hosted by the dome. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, $336 million was spent on repairing the dome. Two 333-foot long video boards were installed at each end in the summer of 2016 thanks to an investment from New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson. The structure has also played host to seven Super Bowls and five NCAA Final Fours

The game began in 1935 and has since hosted 17 Heisman Trophy winners. The MVP list is filled with huge names such as Archie Manning, Herschel Walker, Ken Stabler, Bo Jackson, Dan Marino and Jerome Bettis.
Tim Tebow still holds the record for passing yards in a game with 482 against Cincinnati in 2010 while Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott recently broke the rushing yards in a game mark with 230 in 2015 against Alabama.
One of the greatest Sugar Bowl games in recent memory came in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2006 when No. 8 Georgia played then No. 11 West Virginia. The Mountineers entered the game as a touchdown underdog and then clung to victory with a 38-35 win. Another came in 2012 when Alabama famously beat LSU 21-0 after the Tigers took the regular season victory 9-6.
The Crimson Tide hold the record for most appearencesin the game with 15 while LSU is close behind with 13. Though Alabama’s two most recent appearences in the game have been losses to Ohio State and Oklahoma respectively. Prior to its loss against Alabama, LSU won their last three appearences beating Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Illinois.
Florida holds the all-time record for points scored with 52 in 1997 when the Gators beat No. 1 Florida State behind Danny Wuerffel. Oklahoma’s win over LSU in 1950 remains the largest margin of victory at 50 points.
Past sponsors of the game include USF&G, Nokia and most recently Allstate for the past 10 years. Alabama has won the game eight times while LSU, Ole Miss and Oklahoma have each won it six times. The largest crowd to ever see the game came in 1973 when Notre Dame played Alabama and edged the Crimson Tide 24-23.
