Texas A&M recruiting snapshot: Lack of additions drops Aggies’ 2018 class out of top 10
There hasn’t been a lot of Texas A&M recruiting news in 2017.
The Aggies did most of their work for the 2017 class early and thus didn’t have much work to do over the final weeks of the cycle. Similarly, the Aggies got off to a strong start for their 2018 class, with Kevin Sumlin securing commitments from six prospects before the calendar turned to 2017.
But with 2017 signing day behind us, the Aggies are still stuck on six commitments. And now, a handful of teams are above them in the recruiting rankings. While we’re still a ways out from the 2018 edition of signing day, it probably would help the narrative surrounding Sumlin and his perceived hot seat if he can sign a top-10 class, something he hasn’t done since 2014.
For a deeper look at the 2018 recruiting class, here is the Texas A&M recruiting snapshot.
Where Texas A&M’s 2018 recruiting class ranks
The lack of recent additions has dropped Texas A&M out of the top 10 of the 247Sports composite rankings. A month ago, the Aggies sat in the No. 8 spot. But as of Saturday, the Aggies now have the No. 12 recruiting class. That’s still good for second among SEC teams, but schools like Auburn and Alabama are making up ground.
