Texas Bowl 2017 history
In the past three Texas Bowls, an SEC team has met a Big 12 team, with the SEC winning two of the three games in blowout fashion.
Arkansas blasted Texas in 2014, and then LSU ran all over Texas Tech in 2015 but last year, Kansas State flipped the script and took down Texas A&M. The game first started in 2006, with Rutgers, led by Greg Schiano, beat Kansas State 37-10. The game has rotated sponsorhsips, with this year’s being Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Among the bowl eligible SEC teams, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Missouri all qualified for bowl games. Alabama, Auburn and Georgia will all be playing in either College Football Playoff games or in New Year 6 games.
From the Big 12, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kansas State and Iowa State all qualified for bowl games. If Oklahoma beats TCU on Saturday, the Sooners will likely play in the College Football Playoff.
