Top SEC prospects receive visits from coaches before NCAA deadline
Sunday marked the final day college coaches could have face-to-face interaction with prospective recruits until mid-January, and several SEC coaches raided the recruiting trail one last time.
Here are a handful of visits you need to be aware of.
Four-star defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson received a late in-home visit from new Georgia coach Kirby Smart on Sunday, just hours before the recruiting dead period. Jackson, who announces his decision on Thursday, will decide between Auburn, Ohio State, Florida and, potentially, Georgia though many peg him to be a strong lean to the Tigers and Buckeyes. He took an official visit to the Plains over the weekend and members of the Ohio State coaching staff dropped in prior to Smart’s arrival.

Four-star wide receiver Tre Nixon had a chance to connect with recently hired Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney for an in-home visit Sunday. Nixon is considering Florida, Penn State, Texas A&M and Georgia, but has been wrestling with a decision for some time. On Saturday, Nixon told SEC Country he received a phone call from Kirby Smart and a visit from running backs coach Thomas Brown on Friday.
Great meeting, and visiting with Coach Chaney from Georgia tonight! #UGA??

Jeffery Simmons, a four-star defensive end from Macon, Miss., received an in-home visit from Mississippi State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz and defensive line coach David Turner on Sunday. Simmons revealed to SEC Country last week that the Bulldogs, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee are all in the running for his signature and each are possible locations for an official visit sometime soon.

Five-star outside linebacker Lyndell Wilson took in visits from Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins and Alabama coach Nick Saban on Sunday. Both schools, of course, top Wilson’s list of finalists — one that also includes LSU, USC and Georgia. He told SEC Country less than two weeks ago that each of the aforementioned schools will likely receive an official visit. His recruitment is likely to come down to National Signing Day.

Four-star running back Devwah Whaley took in a visit from several members of the Arkansas coaching staff on Sunday, including coach Bret Bielema. The Razorbacks have long been considered a favorite to land his signature particularly after he de-committed from Georgia in recent weeks.
