Arkansas has a tough road ahead.
As it stands now, the Razorbacks are set to play eight ranked opponents this season. For comparison, No. 1 Ohio State plays just one.
That’s something Arkansas coach Bret Bielema was sure to point out during the SEC teleconference on Wednesday when asked his opinion on the SEC having a record 10 teams ranked in the AP Top 25.
“Ohio State has one remaining game with a ranked opponent,” Bielema said, according to Bleacher Report’s Barrett Sallee. “We have eight remaining against teams who are ranked.”
Bielema isn’t the first SEC coach to take a jab at the Buckeyes, as South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier expressed his displeasure with Ohio State’s weak scheduling about a week prior.
Ohio State’s only remaining ranked opponent comes against No. 5 Michigan State on Nov. 21. Arkansas still has games against No. 2 Alabama, No. 6 Auburn, No. 14 LSU, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 17 Ole Miss, No. 21 Missouri, No. 23 Tennessee and No. 25 Mississippi State.
Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen also had offered his thoughts on Ohio State’s schedule Wednesday on the Paul Finebaum Show.
“I look at the FPI or one of (ESPN’s) ranking index. I saw it said that Ohio State has a 99 percent chance to win their games,” Mullen said. “What would be interesting is how that would rank for each team in the SEC West off of that schedule, and how many of those teams would almost be looking at locks into the playoff just in the West if that was the schedule that our teams had to play. What would their percentage be if they were playing one of our schedules?”
