Derrek Pitts, the No. 2 ranked recruit in the state of West Virginia, whittled his list of schools down to 10 on Saturday, and the Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers made the list announced on Twitter .
The 6-foot-1, 174 pound athlete/safety has a reported 19 offers on the table, and other major programs on his list of finalists include West Virginia, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma. Toledo and Marshall also made the cut. Pitts did not place the teams in any particular order.
“First off I would like to thank the man above for everything he has done,” Pitts said in a note posted to his Twitter account. “I also would like to thank my coach, family and supports through this whole process. It’s been a long recruiting process for me and my family and most of all I’m thankful for all the schools that offered me.”
Earlier in the week, 247Sports reported that Pitts visit to Tennessee made a big impression on the South Charleston High School (Charleston, W.V.) athlete.
