Kirby Smart is on his way to UGA. DawgNation reported earlier this evening that the former Bulldogs defensive back would return as head coach to succeed Mark Richt.
The Alabama defensive coordinator has established quite the reputation working under Nick Saban for the last eight years. So what does it mean for the 17 commitments that the program had under Mark Richt?
DawgNation quickly rounded up the thoughts of UGA’s current commitments for the Class of 2016 and 2017.
UGA’s commitments on the hiring of Kirby Smart
Darion Anderson, 3-star WR, Sr., Houston County — “This is big for UGA.”
Chris Barnes, 3-star OL, Sr., Lee County — “It’s good to hear. I can’t wait to meet him to start building a relationship with him.”
Deejay Dallas, 4-star ATH, Jr., Glynn Academy — “My (high school) team comes before college. I’ll worry about UGA and the coaching change after the season is over.”
Elijah Holyfield, 4-star RB, Sr., Woodward Academy — “If that’s true, I just hope he brings (Alabama strength coach Scott) Cochran. He was a big reason why I liked Alabama so much.”
Charlie Woerner, 4-star WR, Sr., Rabun County — “I think he was the best fit out of all the others for sure.”
