UGA’s Jeremy Pruitt expected to be named Alabama’s defensive coordinator
Jeremy Pruitt is expected to be Alabama’s new defensive coordinator, according to BamaOnline’s Tim Watts.
Pruitt served the past two seasons as UGA’s defensive coordinator, and the Bulldogs just hired Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart as head coach.
Alabama coach Nick Saban and Pruitt are very familiar with each other.
Pruitt worked on the Crimson Tide staff as the defensive backs coach from 2010-2012. He also played football for Alabama.
Pruitt became available after the departure of long time UGA coach Mark Richt, who “parted ways” with the program at the end of the regular season. Pruitt’s defenses were ranked eighth and 17th in total defense in his two seasons with the Bulldogs. He also served as Florida State’s defensive coordinator in 2013, leading the Seminoles to a national championship while boasting the country’s third-ranked defense.
Now, it looks like Pruitt will return to Tuscaloosa.
