Verne Lundquist’s victory lap continues.
The venerable CBS Sports broadcaster was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame on Tuesday night in New York City. The moment happened three days after he gave an amazing goodbye at the end of Army-Navy, which was his final college football broadcast for the network.
Through the years, Lundquist’s voice has become synonymous with SEC football. He will continue working golf and college basketball events for CBS Sports, but fall Saturdays will feel different starting next year when he’s not in the booth for SEC on CBS telecasts.
On Tuesday, Lundquist gave a great acceptance speech during the Hall of Fame ceremony. It was typical him: Funny, reflective and impactful.
