Need to win your high school football rivalry game? Just leave it to the Homecoming queen to get it done.
Glenda Dawson High kicker Claire Jeffress, a week after being named 2017 Homecoming Queen at her school in Pearland, Texas, knocked in a game-winning field goal with 1 minute, 8 seconds remaining to lift her Eagles to a 38-35 win over Pearland High on Friday night.
The kick was from 30 yards out, and she kicked it 31.

The senior, who made all five extra points before that kick, reflected on her high school football career after her amazing moment and gave thanks to Glenda Dawson High for having her back.
“It means everything that I was able to support my team the way they have supported me,” Jeffress told the Pearland Journal’s Ted Dunnam. “From the players to the coaches to the school, everybody has completely supported me through my entire journey to my senior year.
“I’m so glad I could experience this one tonight.”
