Mike Leach’s style of offense infiltrated the SEC years ago. It’s just a shame his unique sense of humor didn’t come with it.
The Washington State head coach helped revolutionize college football offenses during his time at Oklahoma and Texas Tech. He popularized the tempo and spread formations now used at Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Missouri, Kentucky and even Alabama, to name only a few.
He also has a dry wit that could challenge Steve Spurrier, and that may be his second greatest contribution to college football. He has compared himself and his players to pirates, offered first date advice to fans and criticized his players’ “fat little girlfriends.”
But how does the coach decide who his team captain is? It’s actually pretty simple.
