UCF wants to be national champions? Fine. SEC Shorts is going to give the Knights the trophy they deserve.
The hilarious folks at SEC Shorts have done it again with an off-season video promoting what appears to be a hastily-crafted “national championship trophy” for UCF, and apparently will be taking it to Tuscaloosa on Wednesday to allow Crimson Tide fans to take pictures with it.
This should be gold. Check it out:
While Alabama is quite obviously college football’s national champion after winning the College Football Playoff national championship game against Georgia in January, UCF refuses to let the idea of a national title go away.
The Knights beat Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl 34-27 to complete a 13-0 season on Jan. 1. And since the AAC champion did not receive an invite to be one of the final four teams in the College Football Playoff, the Knights have decided to treat themselves to national title recognition.
In recent weeks, UCF has unveiled national championship rings, a denotation of the “championship” inside its stadium and even a custom wrap for police cars in the campus area.
If the Knights are going to be this serious about a make-believe national championship, it seems only fair that the funny folks at SEC Shorts get in on the fun with this trophy.
