Verne Lundquist is back! He’s just calling college basketball games during the NCAA Tournament instead of SEC college football games.
But while going over some notes during the Notre Dame-West Virginia game in Bufflao, N.Y., a rogue basketball bounced up and hit the lovable commentator in the face.
The reaction from his color commentator Jim Spanarkel is also priceless.

Verne took a basketball off the noggin, but don’t worry, he’s still on the call. pic.twitter.com/k99S5cyEPr

Feel free to insert your “Wow” or “Oh my gosh” jokes. Twitter certainly did.
Congrats on your upcoming retirement. Here's a basketball to your face. https://t.co/SSELulCwsq

Because he’s the best, Lundquist is playing through pain and still calling the game on CBS. He also will be calling the Villanova-Wisconsin game later on in the day.
