In honor of this weekend’s annual Georgia-Florida game, CBS Sports’ analyst Verne Lundquist looked back on the 2007 Georgia-Florida game in this week’s “Story time with Uncle Verne.”
After listing all the reasons to enjoy the neutral site contest, Lundquist details the story of then-head coach Mark Richt instructing his players to celebrate on the field if the Bulldogs scored the first touchdown.
In fact, Richt even threatened his players with running the stairs the next day should the Bulldogs not earn an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
The Bulldogs earned two.
Georgia went on to win the contest 42-30 — Richt’s second win against Florida since taking over in 2001.
