If you’re the No. 1 overall football recruit out of Georgia, you get to do some pretty unique things this time of year.
Derrick Brown is a 5-star defensive tackle from Lanier High School, and he is getting the red-carpet treatment while taking an official visit to Alabama this weekend.
Brown tweeted out a video of him shooting a game of indoor basketball against Nick Saban, the coach of the Crimson Tide, on Friday night.
The funniest thing about this video is that while Brown has on gym attire, Saban is styling and profiling in a suit – and the GQ look has no impact whatsoever on his basketball moves. It looks Saban has got game.
Alabama traditionally recruits well in Georgia, and Saban has been extremely high profile with recruits from the Atlanta area in the past few days. Saban even posed for pictures in front of the helicopter he used to fly around the city to make pit stops for recruiting.
Back to Derrick Brown: He’s also considering Auburn, Tennessee and Mississippi State, while UGA is considered the school to beat. It will be interesting to see what sports activity that new UGA coach (and current Alabama defensive coordinator) Kirby Smart will do to make an impression on Brown.
Former UGA coach Mark Richt was known for playing “corn hole” (bean bag toss) with recruits.
