Homecoming season is upon us, which means teams are starting to see top attendance marks.
Georgia hosted a full house at Sanford Stadium for homecoming, but saw Vanderbilt pull a shocking upset. Florida and Arkansas also had packed stadiums for homecoming, while Mississippi State traveled to Provo, Utah, and lost in front of a homecoming crowd.
Along with those four homecoming contests, No. 1 Alabama is always a draw, and that was especially true when it traveled to Knoxville to take on Tennessee. And there was another Saturday night in Death Valley, too, bringing out the fans in Baton Rouge.
Here are a couple other attendance notes:
- Every SEC game this weekend boasted at least 98 percent capacity, including Mississippi State’s road game against BYU.
- This was the biggest crowd that Vanderbilt has played in front of this season.
- This weekend’s games averaged more than 87,000 fans, best in the SEC this season.
- LSU was within 200 tickets of selling out.
