ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit was back with more SEC thoughts.
As usual, Herbstreit filled the airwaves Saturday with thoughts about the conference during ESPN’s College GameDay. Below are some of the highlights from the morning.
— Herbstreit said playing Alabama will help Tennessee get up for this game after the Volunteers’ dramatic run recently. He said you have to respect what Tennessee has done the last three weeks. “This is round one of the SEC Championship Game,” Herbstreit said. “I think it’s going to be a shootout.”
— Herbstreit said that even if Tennessee loses today, the Volunteers are still going to make it to Atlanta and play for the SEC title.
— Herbstreit said Ole Miss’ offense has improved from a year ago. He said Rebels quarterback Chad Kelly has mastered the up-tempo style of offense, and Herbstreit added that Kelly has done a great job of confusing defenses.
— Herbstreit said Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs is the key today against Alabama. He said the Vols must spread Alabama out to have a chance. He said Tennessee will put up points against the Crimson Tide.
— Herbstreit said it’s amazing to see Alabama’s offense evolve. He said Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has done a good job and that the offense is “completely different” from year ago.
