Kirk Herbstreit was back with more SEC thoughts.
On Saturday, the ESPN analyst had opinions about the league on College GameDay. As always, he delivered a few revealing takes.
Here are some of the highlights from the morning:
— Herbstreit said don’t be fooled by the current SEC East standings. He’s big on Tennessee’s chances to reach the SEC Championship Game. “The ball is in their court,” Herbstreit said of the Volunteers. He added that it will be interesting to see how the Vols recover after losses to Texas A&M and Alabama. “I think they’re focused on finishing strong,” Herbstreit said.
— Herbstreit said he thinks Florida will handle Georgia. However, a loss for the Gators would be significant for them in the SEC East race. Florida has little margin for error against Tennessee in the division standings. Entering Saturday’s action, the Gators own a 3-1 record in conference play, and the Volunteers are 2-2 in the SEC.
— Herbstreit had high praise for Auburn quarterback Sean White. He said the Tigers’ offense has been efficient lately. He said he was impressed with Auburn’s balanced attack during the Tigers’ run of four consecutive victories.
— Herbstreit picked Auburn to beat Ole Miss. But he said the result would be closer than most expect.
