The SEC is not known as a great conference for men’s basketball, and the conference apparently doesn’t impress CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander outside of a couple of top teams.
Norlander ranked all 351 D-1 men’s college basketball teams in the country, and the SEC spanned a very wide range.
At the top of the conference, Kentucky is ranked No. 2 overall, above the rest of the league and most of the country. The Wildcats only rank behind Duke. Texas A&M (No. 28) and Florida (No. 37) both rank in the top 40.
The conference then has 10 teams between No. 58 (Georgia) and No. 108 (Ole Miss). At the very bottom is Missouri, at No. 162, 54 spots below the next lowest ranked SEC team.
