Kentucky sophomore wide receiver Garrett “Juice” Johnson torched Auburn’s secondary Thursday night. After the game, Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp had a message for the talented receiver.
“I screwed up…,” Muschamp told Johnson on the field after Auburn’s 30-27 win. “You’re a hell of a player.”
Muschamp was likely referencing his tenure as the head coach at Florida when he did not offer Johnson a scholarship. The receiver graduated from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla. Right in Muschamp’s backyard.
Muschamp was not the only one to miss on Johnson. He was only rated as a 3-star recruit in the 2014 class by multiple outlets. ESPN had Johnson ranked as the 84th-best receiver in the nation, while Rivals had him at No. 99.

Johnson has outperformed those expectations. His talent was on full display Thursday as he racked up nine receptions, including this ridiculous one-handed grab, and 160 yards against Muschamp’s defense.
Auburn escaped with a win, but Muschamp may have regretted his decision even more if the Tigers had lost to Kentucky.
