Happy Wednesday, South Carolina fans. Gamecocks interim coach Shawn Elliott and players met with the media Tuesday and began looking ahead to this Saturday’s game against The Citadel.
Here are two things to know:
- ESPN expert Kirk Herbstreit predicted the next South Carolina coach. His guess was Houston’s Tom Herman, who has led the Cougars to a 10-0 record this season.
- South Carolina freshman Blake Camper will start at right tackle against The Citadel. Camper will replace Mason Zandi, who sprained his ankle against Florida.
Other South Carolina news from around the Internet
- WISTV.com’s Heather Carpenter reported a group created a petition to change the Clemson-South Carolina kickoff time. The game is scheduled for noon ET, but organizers want to push to start time to 3:30, 4 or 6 p.m.
- CollegeSpun.com’s Dan Lyons wrote that ESPN’s Travis Haney shot down a rumor regarding a Clemson coach discouraging Herman from taking the South Carolina job. Clemson assistant Jeff Scott was accused of telling Herman negative things about the Gamecocks, but Haney denied any truth to it.
