Happy Tuesday, South Carolina fans.
It was another busy day on the recruiting trail for Will Muschamp and the new Gamecocks staff. Yet again, the new coach received good news.
Here are two things to know:
- In-state wide receiver Diondre Champaigne committed to South Carolina. Champaigne received an offered from the Gamecocks just days prior and reacted quickly.
- South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner compared Muschamp to Nick Saban and Mark Dantonio. Tanner also said he wasn’t fazed by Muschamp’s issues at Florida and that the coach is better off after that experience.
Other South Carolina news from around the Internet
- 247Sport’s J.C. Shurburtt wrote that Muschamp’s staff has deep roots in South Carolina. Shawn Elliott, Bobby Bentley, Robbie Liles, Marcus Lattimore, Ellis Johnson and Andre Goodman are all natives of the state.
- The Greenville News’ Willie T. Smith III wrote that Muschamp is putting his plan in place. If recruiting was the new Gamecocks’ top objective, then so far Muschamp and the staff have worked hard to save the 2016 recruiting class and future classes, too.
