Happy Wednesday, South Carolina fans.
As Christmas nears, Gamecocks fans received a very welcomed present on Tuesday. Thus far, it looks as if it will be a very happy holiday season in Columbia, S.C., as 2016 approaches.
Here are two things to know:
- Four-star quarterback commit Brandon McIlwain will enroll early at South Carolina. McIlwain, as well as 3-star running back C.J. Freeman and 4-star junior college cornerback transfer Jamarcus King were announced as mid-year signees.
- South Carolina landed at No. 18 on Forbes’ list of most valuable college football teams. The Gamecocks, one of nine SEC teams included in the rankings, were valued at $69 million.
Other South Carolina news from around the Internet
- USA TODAY Sports’ Dan Wolken handed out grades to the newest college football hires. Wolken gave new Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp a “C,” suggesting that South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner should have went after an offensive-minded coach.
- Bleacher Report’s Barrett Sallee provided some insight into the first hours of Muschamp’s tenure at South Carolina. Rebuilding the program required Muschamp to hit the recruiting trail almost right away, and that required the new Gamecocks coach to be very specific with the hires of his assistants.
