Merry Christmas Eve, South Carolina fans.
It was an eventful start to the holiday for the Gamecocks, who added to both their coaching staff and early enrollee list.
Here are two things to know:
- Four-star wide receiver Bryan Edwards is set to enroll early at South Carolina. Edwards joins quarterback Brandon McIlwain, running back C.J. Freeman and junior college cornerback transfer Jamarcus King as mid-year signees.
- South Carolina added two more coaches to the staff. UGA interim coach Bryan McClendon was named co-offensive coordinator and former Missouri receivers coach Pat Washington will serve as tight ends coach.
Other South Carolina news from around the Internet
- Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans wrote that former South Carolina defensive line coach Deke Adams accepted the same position at East Carolina. Adams also spent time at Ouachita Baptist University, Jacksonville State, North Carolina A&T, Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Miss and North Carolina.
- The State’s Ben Breiner wrote how passer problems spoiled Muschamp’s tenure at Florida. Six different Gators quarterbacks started during Muschamp’s four years at Gainesville, Fla., and at least two drew starts in each season. One of Muschamp’s top priorities will be figuring out who will be under center for the Gamecocks in 2016.
