Happy Friday, Gamecocks fans.
South Carolina’s football received some good news on the recruiting trail, but some not-so-good news with its unbeaten basketball team.
Here are two things to know:
- South Carolina coach Frank Martin discussed his team’s first loss, saying “I kind of saw it coming.” The Gamecocks were outrebounded by Alabama, the SEC’s worst rebounding team on Wednesday night.
- Touted Georgia recruit Kobe Smith chose South Carolina over SEC East opponent Kentucky. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound defensive tackle was committed to the Wildcats in December, but flipped to South Carolina upon Will Muschamp’s arrival in Columbia, S.C.
Other South Carolina news from around the Internet
- FoxSports.com’s Jason Fraychineaud analyzed where South Carolina’s players will get drafted in 2016. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper, Jr. projected wide receiver wide receiver Pharoh Cooper to be as high as a second-round pick or possibly a third-rounder.
- The State’s Ben Breiner wrote about Cedrick Cooper’s quest to become an actor. Cooper, who just finished his fifth year as a defensive end at South Carolina, studied acting throughout his college career.
