2017 NCAA Tournament: South Carolina helps hoops fans mercilessly mock Duke with funny website
South Carolina is the darling of the 2017 NCAA Tournament after the first weekend.
Not only did the Gamecocks win their first tournament game in 44 years and then follow it up with their first-ever Sweet 16 appearance, but they did so by knocking out Duke. And that’s important in garnering street cred among college basketball fans, because the Blue Devils are both known as elite and as the team much of the country loves to hate.
Nothing will endear you more to the college basketball world than to send Coach Mike Krzyzewski and his boys packing at tourney time. And in that regard, mission accomplished for the Gamecocks after an impressive victory over Duke on Sunday night.
Even as Sunday night turned into Monday morning, South Carolina fans were still having a great time celebrating the win and the team’s upcoming trip to New York for the East Region semifinals. That celebration also included some good-natured ribbing of Duke by utilizing a favorite website among many in the college basketball community.
“DidDukeWin.com” offers fans a super simple way to poke the bear after a Blue Devils loss. The concept is as simple as you might imagine: If Duke wins, the website says “yes.” If the Blue Devils lose, “NO” appears in big red lettering.
The latter took place on Sunday night:
The beauty is the simplicity.
And Gamecocks nation, including the official South Carolina account, joined the rest of the college basketball world in enjoying the moment:

It almost makes me sad how few things make me happier than Duke losing, but fortunately it happens enough to keep me satisfied #diddukewin
