Tailback Brandon Wilds, center Alan Knott and receiver Deebo Samuel all missed practice for South Carolina on Wednesday, and coach Steve Spurrier revealed all three starters will be sidelined against Missouri this weekend during his radio call-in show.
Spurrier added that Wilds and Knott could return as early as next week, according to David Caraviello of The Post and Courier.
Neither Wilds (cracked rib) nor Knott (sprained ankle) played against UCF in Week 4, and backup running backs David Williams and Shon Carson have largely unimpressed in their absence. Excluding freshman quarterback Lorenzo Nunez’s scrambles, the Gamecocks have averaged a mere 4.5 yards per carry this season.
Freshman D.J. Neal will start in place of Samuel, Spurrier said earlier in the week.
Spurrier says RB Brandon Wilds (ribs) and C Alan Knott (ankle) could be back next week. Confirms WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) out this week.
