South Carolina took another hit on the recruiting trail Monday.
Jordan Smith, a 4-star defensive end/outside linebacker from Lithonia (Ga.) High School has de-committed from South Carolina, he announced via his Twitter account. Smith added that he is down to choosing between Tennessee and Florida.
“Losing Coach (Steve) Spurrier was tough but losing Coach (Lorenzo) Ward is tougher. I have narrowed my decision to Tennessee and Florida,” Smith tweeted.
It should be noted that Will Muschamp was announced as South Carolina’s new head coach on Monday. Ward, who served as the team’s co-defensive coordinator under Steve Spurrier, will reportedly not have a place on Muschamp’s new staff.
Smith is ranked as the nation’s No. 24 defensive end.
