Happy Tuesday, South Carolina fans. It was a slow news day out of Columbia, S.C., as we await South Carolina’s weekly press conference today.
Here are four things to know:
- Clemson-South Carolina game time announced. The annual in-state rivalry will kick off at noon ET on Nov. 28.
- USA TODAY Sports’ Steve Berkowitz details the South Carolina president’s decision to pay Steve Spurrier for the remainder of his contract year. According to Harris Pastides, alternative payment methods would cost South Carolina more.
- The State’s Ben Mclemore and Matt Connolly report that behind the scenes, South Carolina recruits are preparing for a coaching change. Some recruits rescheduled their official visits until after the season when the Gamecocks have a new coach in place.
- The Charleston City Paper’s Karl Brenkert writes Houston’s Tom Herman is the wrong head-coach choice for the Gamecocks. Herman was Ohio State’s offensive coordinator in 2014 and is in his first season as Houston’s coach. Brenkert believes a third job in as many years is a red flag.
