The father of 5-star defensive end Xavier Thomas (Florence, S.C.) announced on Saturday that his son has committed to Clemson.
A few minutes later, Thomas posted the news to his Twitter account.

In the announcement, Thomas thanked the South Carolina coaches and fans.
“They were all so good to me and I will always be grateful for the love they have shown me and the family and I wish them the best.”

Thomas, who attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., told SEC Country earlier this year that South Carolina and Clemson were in a 50/50 race for his commitment.
The announcement comes seven days after his most recent trip to South Carolina for the Garnet & Black spring game. Thomas was also on campus just a few days earlier.
Apparently, the race is over.
