Zion Williamson was pleased with reception he received on Saturday while he sat inside Colonial Life Arena for South Carolina’s game against Georgia.
On more than one occasion, the Gamecocks student section broke out into chant, calling for the 5-star small forward from Spartanburg (S.C.) Day School.
“When I heard the student section chanting my name, that feeling is just amazing knowing that they are just showing me how much love,” Williamson said, during an interview with Phil Kornblut. “I enjoyed it. I love stuff like that.”

In December, Williamson told SEC Country that he has contact with the South Carolina coaches on a daily basis.
“Be different, stay in state and change the state of South Carolina, make South Carolina basketball players stay in South Carolina.” Williamson said, when Kornblut asked about his communication with Gamecock coach Frank Martin.

“The atmosphere was amazing and I like how hard South Carolina plays defense and I like how they execute on defense.”
This season, Williamson has visited Clemson and Kentucky. Later this month, he’s planning to make stops at Duke and North Carolina.
