Allisha Gray is going back to the city in which she and the Gamecocks won a national title on April 2.
Gray was drafted No. 4 overall in the WNBA Draft on Thursday, selected by the Dallas Wings. She was the second Gamecock drafted, joining senior center Alaina Coates, who was picked No. 2 overall.
Gray elevated her play to help lead the Gamecocks to the national title, scoring 16.5 points per game and grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game in the NCAA Tournament. She scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds against Mississippi State in the national championship game, providing a dynamic pairing with A’ja Wilson as the Gamecocks beat Mississippi State 67-55 on April 2.
Two days later, Gray announced she would be leaving South Carolina a year early after averaging 13.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in her junior season.
Gray played her first two seasons at North Carolina before transferring to South Carolina, where she sat out the 2015-16 season.
