The graduation of tight end Jerell Adams may have left a gaping hole at the position for South Carolina, but on Wednesday, coach Will Muschamp and his staff picked up a pledge that could help solve those woes sooner than later.
Evan Hinson, a three-star prospect out of Deltona (Fla.) High School, announced his commitment to the Gamecocks via Twitter. He had de-committed from Miami in December, picked up an offer from South Carolina soon after and took an official visit to Columbia, S.C., on Jan. 15.
Hinson, who also reported offers from Florida, Southern Cal and Michigan, gives the school its 24th commitment and becomes the only tight end currently a part of the Class of 2016.
Hinson is rated the No. 30 tight end recruit in the country. A high school hoops standout, the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder could choose to play both football and basketball at South Carolina — he had reportedly planned to do so at Miami.
