In two weeks, South Carolina and South Florida will square off in the Birmingham Bowl.
The 10-2 Bulls come in with a high-powered offense and a host of experienced players defensively. In this five-part series, SEC Country will take a look at the 10 USF players to know heading into the Birmingham Bowl.
To start, we take a closer look at players Nos. 3 and 4 in Part 4:
4. Rodney Adams – senior wide receiver
South Florida does a great job moving the ball on the ground, but when it goes to the air, Adams is the main target.
The senior slot receiver is the passing game complement to Marlon Mack’s ground attack for the Bulls. He set school records in 2015 for touchdown catches and receiving yards, a season which he continued to build on in 2016
Adams recorded 755 yards and 5 touchdowns on 60 receptions, leading the Bulls in all categories. He’ll be a tough matchup for the Gamecocks to cover out of the slot.
3. Auggie Sanchez – junior linebacker
Sanchez posted 108 tackles this season from the middle linebacker spot, earning his second-team all-conference honors. He started all 12 games for the second straight year after recording the second-most single-season tackles in school history when he had 117 in 2015.
He doesn’t wow physically, but he makes plays and leads the South Florida defense.
