Darius Rucker is one of the biggest and most identifiable South Carolina Gamecocks fans, and the Gamecocks women’s basketball team’s national title run was reason for the country music star to give the Gamecocks some dap during the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night.

Before he was to present the award for album of the year, Rucker squeezed in his words of commendation to his alma mater.
“Big ups to the Lady Gamecocks, national champions,” Rucker told the crowd and a television audience.
The South Carolina women’s team won its first national title Sunday night in Dallas by beating SEC rival Mississippi State for a third time this season. The Gamecocks won 67-55 on the strength of A’ja Wilson’s 23 points. Wilson was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Rucker’s congratulatory message also extended to his Twitter account.
