Jake Bentley and 42 other top college quarterbacks are participating this weekend as counselors at the Manning Passing Academy.
Bentley made a quick impression on Archie and Eli Manning.
The father-son duo raved to Josh Kendall of The State about the South Carolina quarterback.
Archie said that it was easy to see why South Carolina coach Will Muschamp is excited about Bentley’s future.
“He’s going to be a good player. He’s young. Sometimes you can just tell that they are savvy. He’s kind of got it,” Archie said. “He’s playing in a tough conference. I’m not saying he’s going to set the world on fire, but you can tell he’s going to be a good one.”
Bentley and Eli Manning share the same college offensive coordinator. Kurt Roper was the OC at Ole Miss when Manning was there, and Roper is Bentley’s OC at South Carolina.
Bentley threw 9 touchdown passes compared to just 4 interceptions as a freshman. He started the final seven games of the season for the Gamecocks and was a big reason why they ended up in a bowl game.
The Gamecocks open their 2017 season on Sept. 2 in Charlotte, N.C., as Bentley and his teammates take on North Carolina State.
