On Friday afternoon, South Carolina added a commitment from 3-star cornerback Tavyn Jackson.
The 2017 prospect from James Rickards High School (Tallahassee, Fla.) also considered Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and UCF. Earlier this week, Jackson listed the schools as his five favorites.
When asked about his decision to commit to South Carolina, Jackson said:
“Family environment, they’re all about the next steps into the future.”

For South Carolina, Jackson is the first defensive back committed to the 2017 class. He joins 3-star RB Kyshaun Bryan as the second prospect to commit out of the state of Florida. Including junior college placement Javon Kinlaw, the Gamecocks now have 15 commitments in the class.
Jackson is ranked as the No. 91 cornerback in the class of 2017. He’s the No. 121 overall prospect in the state of Florida.
As a junior, Jackson had 58 tackles and 15 pass breakups.
