Former South Carolina QB Steve Taneyhill is now the proud owner of Group Therapy, a bar in Columbia’s Five Points neighborhood.
Taneyhill tweeted the news on Thursday afternoon.
It's finally official, I bought group therapy today. Open for business. #5points # GCOCKS. TANEYHILL's Group Therapy sounds good.

Taneyhill, who’s been a South Carolina high school coach for a majority of his post-college career, ranks first in school history with 62 touchdown passes. After his professional career ended, he won five state championships in 16 seasons as a high school football coach.
According to fivepointscolumbia.com, the bar is a “local’s hangout.”
“Columbia’s oldest bar….come find out why Group Therapy is still standing. Come out for late night entertainment and drinks, seven days a week. Events and parties every month, comfortable vibe, friendly staff, and some of the cheapest drinks in town.”
Taneyhill recently shared his thoughts on new South Carolina and its direction under first-year head coach Will Muschamp.
“He did a good job of getting in with the state high school coaches early and they’ve worked hard,” Taneyhill said. “It’s going to be tough. They’ve got some holes to fill, but he is trying to get the talent here and I think that’s a step in the nice direction.”
