It didn’t become official until he penned his name onto the letter of intent, but if this weekend was any indication, South Carolina likely felt confident about its chances with three-star defensive tackle Aaron Thompson. Thompson has officially signed, according to GoGamecocks.com.
While in Columbia for his official visit, Thompson took to Twitter to share a photo he took with new coach Will Muschamp, captioning it: “This is a cool dude.” Additionally, he has been very pro-South Carolina on Twitter these past few days.
Thompson abruptly de-committed from Maryland right after he made an official visit to South Carolina. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native originally committed to the Terrapins Jan. 21, which is why his de-commitment 11 days later seemed so sudden.
Thompson is the state of Florida’s No. 94 overall prospect.
