The worst was confirmed for former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Shaw suffered a broken leg in the fourth quarter of a preseason game for the Chicago Bears.
#Bears QB Connor Shaw suffered a broken leg right above the ankle, source said. If there is no ligament damage, could be back this season

Shaw had been playing well in the game before the injury, as he completed 5 of his 6 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. He had been competing with Brian Hoyer to be the backup to Jay Cutler.
The injury was serious enough that the Bears TV crew would not show a replay of the hit.
After the injury, many offered their thoughts on Shaw and wished him the best. Both Bears head coach John Fox and former South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier weighed in.
Prayers out to you Connor. https://t.co/Cy51ReZ4Lv
