Marcus Lattimore, the former South Carolina running back, will always be a Gamecock legend. Now, he’ll also be a legend at Heathwood Hall Middle School.
Lattimore, now a coach for the middle school football team, led the Highlanders to a championship in his first season as head coach, according to The State’s Lou Bezjak.
Heathwood Hall defeated Hammond 12-0 Thursday night to finish the season 5-3.
In his career at South Carolina, Lattimore rushed for 2,677 yards and had 41 touchdowns before suffering two knee injuries as a Gamecock. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but never played in the NFL before retiring in 2014.
