Boynton played for South Carolina from 2001-04, ranking in the top 10 all-time in starts. His coaching career began at Furman as a manager before he moved up to take an assistant role at Coastal Carolina and Wofford.
Boynton returned to Columbia as a coach in 2008 on Darrin Horn’s staff, sticking around into Frank Martin’s tenure into 2012-13. He then joined Underwood’s staff at Oklahoma State.
