South Carolina fans are working together to try to send a superfan known as “Gamecock Jesus” to the Final Four.
A GoFundMe campaign was started to send Carlton Thompson, the man affectionately known as “Gamecock Jesus,” to Arizona to watch South Carolina take on Gonzaga in the Final Four on Saturday. Fans came out in full force. As of late Monday afternoon, $5,250 of the $3,500 goal was raised, and the campaign was shared more than 7,500 times on Facebook.
The message included within the campaign says, “Gamecocks, Send Gamecock Jesus to the Final Four. He’s always been there for us and our team, and now it’s time to give him something in return. Please donate! Go Cocks!”

Of course, South Carolina clinched its first Final Four berth by beating Florida on Sunday at Madison Square Garden to win the East Region. The Gamecocks have become one of the most remarkable stories of the NCAA Tournament after beating Marquette, Duke, Baylor and Florida to reach the Final Four.
It’s cool to see Gamecocks fans come together for this effort. Here’s hoping “Gamecock Jesus” makes the trip, and he creates memories that will last the rest of his life.
