Momentum continues to build for three-star defensive end Davonne Bowen.
On Saturday, after the Will Muschamp Football Camp, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect from Woodmont High School (Piedmont, S.C.) was offered by South Carolina.
“It’s truly a blessing,” Bowen said. “I’ve been talking to them for a while and to finally get the offer is just a relief.”
Missouri offered Bowen late last month, a couple days after Minnesota pulled the trigger. Maryland, Old Dominion, Western Carolina, Charleston Southern, Towson and Army also offered in May.
South Carolina was offer No. 20.
For Bowen, who’s listed as the No. 64 weak-side defensive end in the country, the Gamecocks have plenty of appeal.
“It’s the home team, the facilities they have — (the) SEC, Williams-Brice Stadium, that’s hard to beat,” he said.
As a junior, Bowen notched 61.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and eight tackles for loss.
