Kaela Davis and Allisha Gray will stay teammates at the next level.
Davis was drafted No. 10 overall by the Dallas Wings on Thursday, six picks after her South Carolina teammate Gray was drafted No. 4 overall. Along with senior center Alaina Coates, the Gamecocks had three players drafted in the Top 10.
Davis averaged 12.7 points per game an shot 34.9 percent from 3-point range as a junior. Davis was at her best in the postseason, especially during the Stockton Regional as South Carolina beat Quinnipiac and Florida State to advance to the Final Four.
She scored 23 points on 10 of 15 shooting against Florida State in the Elite Eight, sending the Gamecocks off to Dallas where they would win the program’s first national championship.
Davis played her first two seasons at Georgia Tech before transferring to South Carolina and sitting out the 2015-16 season.
