South Carolina won’t have to wait long for a premier time slot in the 2018 season.
The Gamecocks will host Georgia in Week 2, and the game will be televised in the prime SEC on CBS slot at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 8.
The matchup could be of the two best teams in the SEC East, which means this battle could have series SEC title game implications later on in the season.
Georgia has won three straight games in this series, including the last two under coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 50-18-2.
According to a press release, this is the third time since 2014 that these two teams will meet in a game televised by CBS. The home team won each of the previous two meetings, including Georgia’s victory a season ago.
South Carolina returns 16 starters to a team that won nine games a year ago. The Gamecocks also return quarterback Jake Bentley, who is widely considered to be among the best in the SEC. Georgia is coming off a national runner-up finish, but could be vulnerable early in the season as it looks to replace the likes of Nick Chubb and Roquan Smith.
The Gamecocks open their season on Sept. 1 against Coastal Carolina.
