COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina coach Will Muschamp met with reporters on Tuesday afternoon to look ahead to Saturday’s game against Georgia.
SEC Country is on hand to cover the weekly sit-down and you can follow along right here for live updates, starting around 1 o’clock:
12:58 p.m. — “Really good football team. You look at their season, the two losses … they played extremely well against a really good Tennessee football team and had every opportunity to win the game.”
12:59 p.m. — Muschamp said they’re expecting Nick Chubb to play on Saturday. Enjoyed his time recruiting Chubb, getting to know him.
1:00 p.m. — “Really athletic defensively. Special teams, Isaiah McKenzie is an issue.”
1:01 p.m. — The university’s administration is coordinating everything with the SEC office. Muschamp said he’s not thinking about the potential weather issues.
1:03 p.m. — “I want our team to play a complete game, offense, defense and special teams.”
1:04 p.m. — “Zack Bailey has been our best offensive lineman through five games.”
1:05 p.m. — Muschamp said they feel good about all three running backs and all three will play on Saturday. There’s always a plan going in, but it’s subject to change once the game gets rolling.
1:06 p.m. — Deebo Samuel and Bryan Edwards are back at practice. “We’re better coaches,” Muschamp said.
1:07 p.m. — Chaz Elder was “pretty solid” in his return from a rib injury. “It was good to get him back on the field. He’s a very good communicator.”
1:10 p.m. — Muschamp didn’t recruit Hayden Hurst to Florida. He’s glad he didn’t.
1:11 p.m. — More on Hurst: “He’s going to keep getting better, because he hasn’t played a lot of football. He’s going to continue to rise.”
1:17 p.m. — “The playbook was very open, for what we were doing with Brandon (McIlwain’s) skill set…we’ll have some things dialed up for when Brandon is in the game that’s a little bit different for what fits Perry (Orth).”
1:20 p.m. — Several freshmen who haven’t played are still up in the air to play, including Sadarius Hutcherston and Aaron Thompson. Tight ends Evan Hinson and Robert Tucker will redshirt. So will defensive end Griffin Gentry and defensive tackle Stephon Taylor.
1:21 p.m. — Freshman wide receiver Korey Banks played against Texas A&M.
